Phantaemon
Heya, the name's Phantaemon, or Phanta for short. I'm a digital artist, and I wanna do 3D, one day, maybe...maybe?
I really like rhythm games, Kingdom hearts, and some niche stuff here and there like 7th Dragon.

In need of Aseprite advice

Posted by Phantaemon - June 4th, 2024

Any aseprite users here?

I made those strangled red sprites a while ago. They were my first "animated" sprites that didnt just consist in me moving one or two parts by a pixel, so I'm still quite proud of em. I'm unsure whether or not they'd be fit for the art portal so if anyone could lmk I'd appreciate it

two variants because being a creepypasta means you don't get a set design lmao

I know there are some clipping issues here and there between the moving parts so don't mention those, I'm aware.

While I can't truly do frame by frame yet, I'm looking to make things look *smoother*. How I made those was by sketching the main pose, drawing parts separately (head, torso, each leg and arm, and hair) and just. moving them around. But it looks kinda choppy. So choppy in fact that someone thought I was making an FNF mod with those (lol I doubt I could compete, just look at pokepasta perdition)

Feedback appreciated, be brutally honest I've made them long ago enough not to be hurt by harsh criticism (just refrain from insulting my mother in the process or something)

Well i gotta say that the animation is good for what it is and given the circumstances it was made in. However, I feel it could have been made to look even better if the legs had been given a bit more care. Perhaps more frames could have been added like to make them feel more loose.
Still pretty good for portraying that uneasy feeling.

yeah the legs I see what you mean, I just kinda squashed them
Think i wouldnt have needed to do that if I had separated the lower and higher parts of them
adding more frames is something I struggle with because I'm lazy af, guess I have something to work towards now though!
Thank you!
